I've spent so many months interviewing members from the company for our 180th celebrations that I thought I'd include some memories of my own.
A little bit about me:
My name is Rebecca Watson and I am Design & Social Media Specialist here at Derwent. I've been with the company for over 5 years after finishing my degree.
I started out as a design assistant but soon was designing packaging, adverts and leaflets in-house. It has been a steep learning curve but I love our products so it's been fun to design what they'll look like in the shops! My favourite piece of packaging is the Graphic Eco Pencils - it is colourful, fun and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.

I also run our social media communities on Twitter, Facebook and of course here on the blog.
When I'm away from Derwent...
I love music and volunteer for a local music festival. I also love to keep fit; walking, jogging and cycling. My favourite TV shows are Father Ted, Spaced and Downton Abbey... rather eclectic!
Bits I like the best...
I have to admit that social media is the most rewarding part of my job. I'm a very chatty person and love learning more about our customers from all over the world. I find it fascinating to see all the new and exciting art you've all been creating with our products! I have made so many great connections through social media; Graham Bradshaw with his photo realistic drawings (drawing below) and the amazing Stuart Whitton who I interviewed back in July are just a couple of highlights.

Special memories...
The day the Queen came to open our new factory was amazing. It was such a fantastic occasion and we were all so proud!
I also had the 'pleasure' of having my hair cut on national TV when the One Show came to the factory. The Street
Barber is a feature they did where a celebrity hairdresser visits places of work and cuts people's hair. It was certainly interesting and quite fun.
Another fantastic memory I'll always have is winning the Best Use of Social Media award at the CN Business Awards just last week. It was such an honour to be recognised for doing a great job engaging with our customers and inspiring them.

And finally, completing the Jennings Rivers Ride with Team Derwent was a really special memory I'll have. It was a 40 mile bike ride through the Lake District and over Whinlatter Pass. Despite the weather being atrocious, we finished and raised over £3000 for charity!
Thanks for reading - I'm looking forward to the next five years with Derwent!
